In the 2007 film I Know Who Killed Me, Jane Galloway Heitz played a nurse opposite Lindsey Lohan.
Actress Jane Galloway Heitz, famed in the high school musical series Glee for portraying the show choir head Lillian Adler, has died at the age of 78.
She died last week of congestive heart failure at an Illinois hospital, confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter by her daughter Amie Richardson.
In shows such as ER, Grey’s Anatomy and the Big Bang Theory, she also appeared.
Galloway Heitz helped to start actors like Steve Carell’s careers through her own casting company in Chicago.
Fans of Fox’s comedy-drama series Glee will recognize the face of the character of Galloway Heitz, Lillian Adler, the one-time choir director, from the commemorative photo frequently seen in William McKinley High School’s choir room.

A plaque marking the life and death of the character held the phrase: “Glee is about opening up for joy by its very nature.” Will Schuester-played by Matthew Morrison-was inspired to take over the club.
The famous photo appeared in the final scene of the show, and in the same flashback scene in 2009 and 2015, Galloway Heitz only appeared twice in person on the show.
She helped to nurture the talents of a young Carell (well known to the U.S. Office and movies like Foxcatcher, The Big Short and The 40-year-old Virgin) as well as chat show host Stephen Colbert alongside her own performance.
Her casting has helped to start the careers of actors Richard Kind, who starred in Mad About You and Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Eric Stonestreet, the star of the Modern Family.
Stonestreet led the tributes, crediting for his success to Galloway Heitz, while describing her as “a great friend and mentor.”
In 1997, she sold her agency to pursue her own career as an actor.
In addition to playing roles in other TV shows such as Shameless’s U.S. version, Galloway Heitz also appeared in movies including the 2007 crime thriller, “I Know Who Killed Me” and The Straight Story by David Lynch, in 1999.
